Vocations in the Priestly Society of Missionaries is a process of many steps and examinations and will take several years. This vocation requires a lot of patience and self confidence in ones faith and daily lives. We seek those who are truly called and chosen as scripture says "Many are called but few chosen". Our aim is not how many priests and seminarians we have in order to compete or boast but it is about who God calls. We should always ask ourselves Is God calling us?

Becoming a missionary priest is not a phase but a lifelong commitment for the glory of God. Christ warned us about being persecuted in the times where he appeared after his Resurrection reminding us to be steadfast and ready whatever may come. All members in the Priestly Society of  Missionaries live in the vow of celibacy and only through priesthood ordination one becomes a fully professed member. We are all called to chastity and celibacy and this is a vocation that should never be abandoned in the church. We are aware that this society does not understand this vocation and life is full of temptations even within the vocation of a family and marriage one is not safe but God calls us all to each our own vocation.

Vocation is most important and we do require that the discerning candidate come with a sound catholic oriented background who already has knowledge in the catholic life and sacraments and must be mature and  aware of having found the ecclesiastical vocation.

We wish to meet the candidate in person on a regular basis or at least once a year when the distance is too far. These meet ups must happen here in Switzerland and the Candidate European based. When you are not already a priest you must go through a one year noviciate before entering seminary classes if you have met the requirements. You will be educated and trained in our own Seminary training provided in this society.

If you are a priest who has found your vocation in our Priestly Society and wish to become a member and has been canonically ordained and meet the requirements then you must have a recommendation by your previous bishop in order to be incardinated in the Priestly Society.

The Clergy or the Ministers of the Catholic Church differ in dignity, and in authority and function, according to the extent in which they have received the plenitude of consecration (of the priesthood) and are invested with jurisdiction, wholly or in part. By the Sacrament of Holy Orders an indelible mark is imprinted upon the soul. By the acts and prayers of Ordination, the candidate is invested with the required  power and grace to fill the office properly. It consists of various orders. The tonsure  is only a preceding ceremony. It leads the seminarian into the sanctuary. The tonsure is a reminder of the crown of thorns of Our Lord Jesus Christ and has the symbolical sense of the entering into the ecclesiastical ranks.

I. THERE ARE FOUR LOWER ORDERS OR ORDINATION

1. The Ordination of PORTER (Ostiarius), transmitting the office and the right to watch the church, to shut the doors and ring the bell.

2. The ordination of LECTOR (Reader), transmitting the power and the right to read Holy Scripture in the church, to sing the psalms and to teach the Catechism.

3.  The ordination of EXORCIST (Exorcista), giving the right and power to bless water, to exorcise and to expel the devil. However, the Rite of Exorcism is reserved for priests and bishops.

4.  The ordination of ACOLYTE (Acolytha), giving the right and power to accompany the priest to the altar, to serve at Mass, to carry the candlesticks, to light the candles and to offer to the priest the bread, the water and the wine. Some of these offices (1 and 4) are many times fulfilled in parish churches by altar servers,  lay clerks and sacristans.

II. THERE ARE THREE HIGHER ORDERS OR ORDINATION

1. The Ordination of SUBDEACON,  giving the right and power to help the deacon, to sing the epistle and to touch the sacred vessels.

2. The ordination of DEACON, giving the right and power to sing the Gospel, to baptize, to dispense Holy Communion and to preach.

3.  The ordination of PRIEST, giving the right and power to celebrate the Holy Mass, to absolve from sin and to administer all the Sacraments, the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Orders excepted. These two Sacraments are reserved to the Bishop who possesses the fullness of the priesthood. The Higher degrees of the Priesthood (Subdeacon, Deacon and Priest) includes the duty to maintain perpetual chastity and prescribes the daily reading of the prayer of the breviary. The ecclesiastical plenary power of administration or jurisdiction is given by the spiritual authority.
